Timmins_Police_Service_logo_updOn Sunday, April 26 at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Timmins Police Service responded to a report of an individual who was injured while cleaning a local business.

The report indicated that the individual mixed different types of cleaning solutions together, which created noxious and dangerous fumes. The individual was transported to hospital by EMS, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

The incident resulted in the closure of Algonquin Blvd. from approximately 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

The building was evacuated as a precaution at approximately 10:55 a.m. and the Timmins Fire Department attended to verify the safety of the building’s air quality. Residents were permitted back into the building at approximately 12:30 p.m. and no other injuries were reported.

The Timmins Police Service reminds residents to use caution when working with any types of chemicals. Even household cleaners have the potential to be dangerous when mixed with other substances. Read all labels carefully and follow instructions to prevent potential injuries and ensure a safe environment for all.
