leverThe Liberals have named their Timmins-James Bay candidate for this fall’s federal election, and it’s a familiar name.

Todd Lever ran for Timmins Mayor last fall, and is a former city councillor.

He says since 2004, the area has been dominated by the NDP and the biggest challenge will be to sway voters to change their colours from orange to red.

“A vote for the NDP is a vote for (Conservative Leader and Prime Minister) Stephen Harper,” he said.

“A Liberal government with Justin Trudeau is the best chance to defeat Stephen Harper.”

Lever adds the government needs to be proactive in investing in infrastructure, and partner with First Nations to help them develop economically and socially.

So far, Lever and incumbent MP Charlie Angus (NDP) are the only ones running.
