OPPOfficers with the South Porcupine (Matheson) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members of the Crime Unit investigated a series of break-ins that occurred in the Matheson area on the night of August 22, 2015.

Five homes were reported haven been broken into with a theft of over $30,000 of jewelry and other property.  With the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit Service (FISU), police were able to identify the suspect.

As a result, a 17 year old male of Ramore was arrested and charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) with:

  • Break and Enter with intent to commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(a) (3 counts), and with
  • Break and enter dwelling house- commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(b) (2 counts).

The youth is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on September 28, 2015.
