by the numbersA recent study has Timmins in the middle of the pack in terms of growing businesses.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business has Timmins 71st out of 121 cities across Canada.

CEO of the Timmins Economic Development Corporation Christy Marinig says there is a silver lining, as Timmins is the highest ranked among the five main Northern Ontario cities (Thunder Bay 88th; Sault Ste. Marie 99th; Sudbury 108th; North Bay 120th).

Timmins scored a 54.3 when looking at the three main indicators of presence, perspective and policy.  That number is down from 2014 by 2.4.

Marinig says the ranking serves as a reminder.

Calgary ranked 1st with a score of 73, followed by Penticton, BC (72.7), Kelowna, BC (71.4), Grande Prairie, AL (70.9) and Collingwood, ON (70.8).

Montreal landed in 121st with a score of just 36.1.
