The Timmins Economic Development Corporation and the Venture Centre are holding the next Age-Friendly Community public consultation in South Porcupine on March 1st. About 33% of Porcupine’s population is above the age of 50, according to the 2011 Census.

“We need as much feedback as possible to develop strategies to ensure the city is age friendly by 2020. Extensive public input is critical to making sure we address issues from a broad cross section of society,” said Fred Gibbons, Chair of the Timmins Economic Development Corporation.

The project is being led by TEDC and Venture Centre. Currently they have over 300 completed surveys but are seeking more. The survey deadline has been extended to February 29th. (Visit http://www.timmins2020.ca/project-overviews-2/upcoming-projects/timmins-age-friendly-community-strategy/.)

The public consultation will be at the South Porcupine Legion Hall on Tuesday, March 1st from 2 – 4 p.m. Bilingual facilitators will be present.
