Salespeople on your front porch can be intimidating, but a motion across Ontario could kick them to the curb.

Cities, including Timmins, are looking to the province to get approval that would give them the power to ban door-to-door sales.

The original resolution comes from the Township of Wellington North, located just north of Guelph.

City Clerk Steph Palmateer says for now, the city can’t place a ban on it.  If they tried, he says salespeople will likely be back out selling shortly afterwards.

City councillor Andre Grzela thinks these types of sales will be “a thing of the past” because of the bad situations that follow.
