The Timmins Police Service has located a local person who had been reported missing on January 2nd.

While investigating a theft of vehicle from a residence in the north end of the city and a subsequent related theft in the Kamiskotia area, Timmins Police officers located Gilles VACHON, 28, of Timmins.

Based on the series of investigations, Gilles VACHON was arrested and taken into custody.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing on charges of:

  • Theft Over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Restricted/Prohibited Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Firearm contrary to Conditions of a Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

His bail hearing is slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
