It’s the time of year once again for mining companies to show the world what they have to offer.

The Big Event Mining Expo goes from the McIntyre Arena this Wednesday and Thursday, with over 400 displays on site and a slew of competitions.

New this year is the “excavator rodeo,” which allows licensed users to try and nab basketballs off a pylon and drop them into a container.

As well, the jackleg competition returns and among other participants, you will see a ‘grudge match’ between Mayor Steve Black and city councillor Joe Campbell. The ladies novice division will also go, involving Rogers Radio’s own street team personality Cambria Bryce and on-air talent Nancy Birko, who are issuing the challenge out to other ladies to participate.

On the topic of ladies, there will be several seminars throughout the expo and one of them has to do with “Women in Mining” and another pertains to the much talked about Ring of Fire.

The show goes Thursday from 10am-6pm and Friday from 9am-4pm.
