Local police worked together to safely diffuse what could have been a dangerous result.

Timmins Police say Monday evening around 6:30pm, they got a report of explosives located five kilometres down Pine Street South. When police arrived, they discovered two sticks of dynamite and a blasting cap.

TPS secured the location and Tuesday morning, the OPP’s Explosives Disposal Unit arrived on scene.

OPP transported the explosives to a remote location, where it was safely detonated.

TPS is reminding the public to use extreme caution if you find explosives or any potential harmful objects.

“The public is urged never to pick up or touch these types of items, and to call police immediately if located,” they state in a release.
