A bit of history is happening at Kettle Lakes Provincial Park next month.

The Northern Ontario Party has stated in a release they will be holding an Executive Board Election at their first ever Annual General Meeting, slated for August 12-14 at the park.

“The vote will be to reaffirm or negate positions on our executive board, and will be held on August 13th,” they say, “Once the results are read, the NOP will begin accepting new nominations for all vacant board positions.”

Party Leader Trevor Holliday says it’s time to give members a chance to decide who leads them into the 2018 provincial election.

“We don’t just state things because we feel people want to hear them,” he adds, “We are a party of action, we do what we promise. Unlike other parties, we feel the people should have the power, not the politicians.”

The process ends August 27th, with a members vote to go the following two days.

The results will be released September 1st.

The NOP says the goal here is to achieve a democratically elected board, adding they are holding it near Timmins because it’s more of a “central location” to make it easier for members to attend.

You can purchase tickets to the AGM on their website on or by August 6th.

They add it’s a family-friendly event, with games and activities for the kids.
