A ground search is underway in the Murphy Road area for missing Timmins man Christopher Rivers.

The 44-year old was reported missing on August 28th and believed to be in a vehicle. The vehicle, a blue Hyundai Santa Fe, was found abandoned Wednesday around 6pm in the area off Murphy Road northeast of town.

The search is being conducted by the Timmins Police’s Emergency Response Team, with help from the OPP’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and their helicopter.

Volunteers with Timmins Porcupine Search and Rescue are also helping out.

The search has turned up no results as of yet, but TPS ask the public to avoid the area to allow the trained searchers to work effectively.

Rivers is described as Caucasian, about 5’10” and 190lbs. He has wavy light brown hair and blue eyes, and unshaven facial hair.

If you have any details on his whereabouts or believe you may have seen him, contact Cst. Carter of the Criminal Investigations Unit at 705-264-1201 extension 8204.
