Blade Runner 2049 took in just over 31 million dollars at the box office over the weekend, well below the 50 million the studio had hoped for.  Movie executives shouldn’t get too upset, this could simply be a repeat of how the first Blade Runner movie in 1982 played out.  Considered a flop after it’s release, the film went on to gain cult status and ultimately pave the way for  Blade Runner 2049 which had a reported budget of 150 million dollars.  Need a refresher?
