Be like Batman and be extra vigilant this Halloween with these handy tips from the Timmins Police.

They say drivers should slow down, especially in residential areas. Roads are expected to be icy as well, so the message on road safety is two-fold in that respect.

“Enter and exit driveways and laneways carefully and eliminate any distractions to ensure full attention remains on the road,” police say.

Trick-or-treaters are reminded to stick to well-lit streets and always walk on sidewalks when available.

Police also encourage you to avoid jaywalking and cross at intersections.

“Don’t dart out between cars, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing to ensure you are seen.”

For parents, you are reminded to check children’s candy before digging in to ensure all items are in their original packaging.

“The Timmins Police Service wishes everyone a happy – and safe – Halloween!”
