A fire at a Balsam South home this summer is resulting in six charges for a Timmins man.

Timmins Police say the blaze happened Canada Day. They allege the man—49-year old Gerald Caza—went into the home around 2pm that day and “set fire to items inside the residence.”

Police say they received information that indicated there were people inside the home at the time.

No injuries were sustained and damage is estimated at around $30,000.

Caza faces thw following charges:

  • Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence
  • Arson: Disregard for Human Life
  • Arson: Damage to Property
  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained By Crime under $5,000
  • Breach of Probation

Caza is being held in custody.  His court date is set for November 14th.
