Next time you see a parking ticket on your windshield in the downtown, there’s a possibility that the cost could be a little higher.

City council is in favour of bringing back a report that looks at increasing fines, something that was talked about during the core services review in 2015.

Councillor Pat Bamford says the $8.00 starting rate for fines is “unreasonably low.”

Meantime, they also opened up the option to increase the parking rate, that currently sits at 75 cents an hour.

When it came time to vote, council turned down that request and so the rate will be status quo for now.
