Timmins Majors call up Riley Brousseau scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal Tuesday night.

But that’s all the Timmins Rock (10-18-1-2) could muster for offense in a 3-1 loss to Kirkland Lake (14-12-1-2).

The Gold Miners got on the board early on with a goal from Tyler Fyfe and it was a 1-0 game after the first period. The Rock were out shot in that period 12-8.

While giving credit to the Gold Miners, Rock Head Coach Corey Beer wasn’t a big fan of his team’s slow start.

“When your defensemen’s gaps are 30 feet off guys and you don’t box out (players) in front of the net, you don’t play gritty, you don’t play dirty,” he said, “We’re a team that wants to play with the puck. If you’re chasing to get it the entire game, that’s the result so our guys need to put on their work boots next time and realize there’s a Junior A hockey game starting at 7 o’clock.”

The Rock are winless in their last five games and sit fifth in the NOJHL East Division.

They’ll meet the sixth place French River Rapids (9-18-3-0)—who sit two points behind the Rock—Thursday night at the McIntyre Arena. Puck drop is at 7:00pm.
