The adjustment to winter conditions seems to be a bit slower for some Timmins drivers.

Timmins Police say there’s been a “significant increase” in collisions throughout the city and many were a result of drivers not adjusting their driving habits for the season.

“On (Wednesday), December 13 alone, there were a total of 16 collisions reported to police,” they say.

Police believe they could have been avoided by slowing down, leaving for your destination earlier and paying extra attention, especially at slippery intersections.

Police would like to remind the public to use caution, adjust speeds and plan for any delays.

And they add to keep a safe distance between vehicles and clear all snow and ice from vehicles.
