The latest round of gas tax funding from the province has Timmins getting a bigger piece of the pie.

Timmins will receive just under $613,986 for the 2017-18 season, which is up from the $604,666 given to Timmins last year.

Also, Cochrane will get just over $36-thousand, Kapuskasing, just over $63-thousand and Hearst, just over $46-thousand dollars. Chapleau gets $18,186.

Around the north, Sudbury will get $2,644,599, North Bay gets $869,051 and Sault Ste. Marie gets $1,137,289.

Gas tax funding is meant to support transit-related expenses.

This year the province committed $357.2 million in gas tax funding to 105 municipalities, providing service to 142 communities, the most since the program began in 2004. The funding is expected to increase to about $401.3 million in 2019–20, $481.5 million in 2020–21 and $642 million in 2021–22.

99 municipalities shared in the dollars last year.
