An extreme cold warning is in effect.

It’s a chilly Wednesday morning in Timmins and the surrounding area, with wind chills expected to stay at or below minus 40 through the morning.

And during the day, it’s not going to be much better with windchills hovering around the mid minus 30s before returning to minus 40 this evening.

“Extreme cold puts everyone at risk,” says Environment Canada.

They say to take necessary precautions, dress warmly and in layers so you can remove some if you get too warm.

Environment Canada also advises that the outer layer should be wind resistant.

And keep a watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
