On February 2, 2018 at 11:18 a.m., the Matheson Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were investigating a stolen vehicle from Fifth Avenue, in Matheson, Ontario.

 

The OPP located the stolen vehicle on Highway 101 approximately 10 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario. The spike belt was successfully deployed and the vehicle was stopped without incident.

 

As a result of the investigation, the vehicle driver, Hysen REDENICA, 32 years old, from Whitby, Ontario has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 333.1 of the CC and,
  • Two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, contrary to section 355(a) of the CC,

 

He is being held pending a bail hearing in Timmins, Ontario.
