**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service is continuing its investigation into a suspicious death where human remains were located inside a burned vehicle in the Gold Centre area of Timmins on the afternoon of May 18th, 2018.

The investigation continues to be conducted in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police, the Office of the Regional Coroner and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office.

In the afternoon of May 18th, 2018 the Timmins Police Service responded to the call of a vehicle fire that had just been extinguished, where human remains were located inside.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Tuesday May 22nd, 2018 in Toronto. The identity of the deceased person has not yet been confirmed through forensic means.

The Timmins Police Service currently holds a warrant for the arrest of:

Richard (“Ricky”) GREEN, 41 of Timmins (Schumacher). GREEN is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” tall and 190 lbs with a medium build. He has reddish brown long hair, usually worn in a ponytail and has a reddish brown goatee and un-kept beard. He has green/blue eyes. GREEN is wanted for:

• Murder in the second degree contrary to s. 235(1) of the Criminal Code
• Arson to property contrary to s. 434 of the Criminal Code
• Theft of motor vehicle contrary to s. 333.1of the Criminal Code
• Indignity to dead body contrary to s. 182(a) of the Criminal Code

Although the identity of the deceased is not officially confirmed, investigators believe that the suspect and the person, who is believed to be the deceased, were known to each other. This was not a random act.

The Timmins Police Service is seeking public assistance in locating Richard GREEN and encourages anyone with any information on his whereabouts to contact the Timmins Police Service or Crime Stoppers. If you see GREEN, do not try to approach him, and call 911. Although there is no specific information to suggest that he is a danger to anyone else, because of the nature of his alleged crime on May 18th, his behavior may be unpredictable and he may be armed. He is evading police at this time.
