The Gogama train derailment is creating a devastating ripple effect through the community.

Secretary of the Gogama Service Board, Gerry Talbot local businesses are fielding calls from clients looking to spend their money elsewhere.

“CN Rail have been in touch with these businesses to deal with that situation but it’s a scary time for the people of Gogama”.

Talbot is also part of the emergency operation centre and is dealing directly with CN officials.  He says the Ministry of the Environment has been conducting their own water and air test following shocking news Wednesday morning.

“Trace amounts of oil were found in a nearby lake and the Minisinakwa River.  CN has booms out testing the waters daily but the MOE is stepping in with their own tests.”
