House of Bras, a Timmins lingerie store is collecting gently used bras for “Free the Girls”, a non profit organization.

Owner Joanne Gagnon explains how this bra-drive will help rescue women involved in sex trafficking.

DID YOU KNOW?
With roughly 37 million men, women and children being held as slaves around the globe, the majority of them are women and girls – victims of sex trafficking.

What makes “Free the Girls” different from other amazing organizations? They go a step beyond rescuing these women, by providing a life AFTER they are rescued.

Gagnon says, by helping these women out of a life of prostitution, Free the Girls gives these victims an opportunity to become business owners, with a chance at a new life. Providing aftercare allows these women to make concrete, positive changes – with no reason to go back to their old lifestyle.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

House of Bras owner, Gagnon is hoping to collect at least 500 gently used bras. The bra-drive ends May 2nd and you can drop them off anytime during regular business hours (705-268-7121) MORE INFO

The local store is taking their involvement a step further by providing a bunch of brand new bras from their own “House of Bras” inventory to match whatever donations they collect.

Gagnon is also encouraging anyone who stops in to donate to take a photo, share it to Facebook using the hashtag #HOB/FreeTheGirls. Why? Every photo shared using that hashtag and House of Bras will donation $1 to the Timmins and Area Women in Crisis.

If that’s not enough reason to make a generous donation, here is another one: When you stop in to donate a bra, House of Bras will give you a 20% discount on your next purchase.
