Sea Cadets are looking to take in a piece of history in 2017.

The Corps is planning on visiting the Vimy Ridge memorial in France to celebrate it’s 100th anniversary.  Lt. Sabrina Vachon says it’s costing around $3,000 per cadet but it’s all worth it.

“We’re reliving history.  We’ll be visiting the tunnels and trenches and giving our thanks to those who sacrificed so much for us.”

This trip doesn’t come without serious planning. Vachon says a parents and sponsor meeting happens weekly to hash out plans and make sure they’re never scrambling for ideas.

“Our ideas are on a month-by-month basis.  We meet weekly so we don’t get ahead of ourselves and get as much exposure in the community as possible.”

The trip is being planned by Educational First Tours and includes a week-long stay in France along with tours of the Vimy region and Paris.  Vachon says it’s a trip of a lifetime which is why they’re starting to raise money now.
