porterpassportcontestWith North Bay now in the Porter Airlines fold, every major city in Northern Ontario will be serviced by the carrier.

One interesting tid bit from Tuesday’s announcement in North Bay was a direct flight going from the Gateway City to Timmins.

President and CEO Robert Deluce says in many respects, Timmins and North Bay are pioneering the direct route and isn’t ruling out plans to have flights from Timmins to Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie or Thunder Bay.

He says it isn’t in their plans at this point however.

“It’ll be interesting to see how this North Bay-Timmins flight performs, and we’ll monitor it carefully,” he said, “We’re always looking for new routes and opportunities and destinations that line up with where people are looking to travel.”

Deluce believes this new route will be well-received.

According to Porter’s release, a round-trip flight between Timmins and North Bay will be an initial cost of $220, and you can book now at flyporter.com

A direct flight gets you from one airport to the other in about 45 minutes.

“I think we’re going to stimulate the market, and we’ll take some people off the road and will make it generally more convenient for passengers who move between these two cities,” Deluce said.
