A makeover to a piece of Gillies Lake is finished.

The new 150-foot Promenade is open and features plenty of room to sit and feed the ducks.

City Councillor, Mike Doody says the MRCA and Winter Green Fund are also kicking around a few other ideas to further enhance the lake.

“We’re talking to the city engineers to maybe enhance Lakeshore Road and really make the lake a showpiece for the city.”

The project cost around $100,000 with most of the money coming from donations and took a little over a year to complete. The main idea behind the promenade was to stop the soil from eroding the south shore.  The promenade also features plenty of areas to feed the ducks and to sit and relax.
