Timmins_Police_Service_logo_updA Timmins woman is facing fraud charges following both an internal investigation and an investigation by the Timmins Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Section.

The internal investigation began in 2011, when several discrepancies in claims and information were noted by the Ontario Disability Support Program, a provincial social assistance program. Investigation revealed that between 2009 and 2014, various assets had not been declared by an individual receiving funds from the program.

Investigation also revealed that false claims had been filed for purchases and appointments that were not attended.

Funds obtained fraudulently totaled over $100,000.

The investigation was subsequently turned over to the Timmins Police Service, with the individual involved being arrested and charged on August 12, 2015.
Paula Mallette, 47, of Timmins, faces charges of Fraud Over $5000 (x2). She was released on a Promise to Appear in court, with a court date of September 29, 2015.
