Timmins Police Inspector Michael McGinn say when their officers must have an articulate reason if they stop someone for a police street check and this is how they regulate carding in Timmins.

Ontario’s ex-ombudsmen Andre Martin released a report saying he thinks police street checks are wrong and illegal and they infringe on people’s rights.

The Ontario government have said they will work to regulate, but will not ban carding.

McGinn added officers don’t need to document a street check if there was no further inquiry.
