A warming center is a start, but more needs to be done to help the homeless population in Timmins.

The Speakeasy Emporium is providing a hot meal, clothing donations and hygiene kits after a three week trial saw over 110 people take advantage of the open door.

They are also creating a group to brainstorm and execute ideas for a 24/7 center, but for most of the week, founder Christina Geddes says there is some place to go.

They will be meeting at the beginning of December to figure out a place that would provide somewhere they would be warm, feel safe and be respected.

It would also provide food, a computer to contact their family members, and a place which would have showers and laundry facilities.
