Retired Stanley cup winner and motivational speaker, Theo Fleury, is coming to town.

The retired NHLer turned-motivational speaker is talking to students and the public to help raise money for the Timmins Kiwanis Falcons midget girls hockey team. Team Manager, Marie Leonard says the girls team brought food and taught a hockey school in Attawapiskat last winter and want to keep the tend alive.

“This year we’re looking to bring gym equipment and food to the people of Fort Albany.  They’re lacking in school gym equipment so we’re hoping to public steps up and helps us just as much as last year.”

Fleury meanwhile, is speaking twice next Friday, to students at TH&VS then later that night at the Dante Club to the general public.

The former Calgary Flame, Colorado Avalanche, New York Ranger, and Chicago Blackhawk had a long NHL career but has battled through substance abuse and sexual abuse.  He’s aslo written a book about overcoming the abuse.
