Timmins_Police_Service_logo_updOn February 14, 2016, at approximately 8 p.m., an individual attended a local restaurant and an attempt was made to commit a robbery.

The robbery was attempted by demanding money from the employee on duty while displaying a weapon.

A lengthy investigation followed by the Timmins Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Section. Using investigative tools including CCTV camera surveillance footage, the individual involved was identified, and was arrested on February 27, 2016.

In connection with this incident, Dylan MCWATCH, 23, of Timmins is facing charges of:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Disguise with intent
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Between February 23 and February 25, 2016, the individual involved in the above incident was also involved in a separate Break & Enter incident in Timmins.

Investigation revealed that during the break and enter, various items were taken including electronics, tools, and firearms. Investigation also revealed that some of the items, including a firearm, were subsequently sold to various other individuals.

In relation to this incident, MCWATCH was further charged with:

  • Break & enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Break, enter and steal firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession for the purpose of weapons trafficking
  • Trafficking in stolen goods under $5000
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm

Two additional individuals were charged in relation to the break and enter incident.

Terry VAILLANCOURT, 39, of Timmins faces charges of:

  • Trafficking in firearms, weapons, device or ammunition
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession for the purpose of weapons trafficking
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Trafficking in stolen goods under $5000
  • Break and enter a place and steal firearm
  • Break and enter with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution, or obstruct justice

Claude TAILLEFER, 47, of Timmins faces charges of:

  • Possession of a Schedule II substance
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited, or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Trafficking in stolen goods under $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

In relation to a previous shoplifting incident which occurred at a local grocery store, MCWATCH also faces additional charges of:

  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

MCWATCH has been remanded to a bail hearing scheduled for March 7, 2016. VAILLANCOURT has been scheduled for video remand on March 14, 2016. TAILLEFER was released on bail with a future court date of March 15, 2016.
