DSB ONE logoDue to a water main break at R. Ross Beattie Senior Public School, the school will continue to be closed and classes cancelled on Tuesday May 24 and Wednesday May 25, 2016.

Repair crews and a Structural Engineer will begin to assess the damage on Tuesday May 24th, and determine next steps.

Due to the uncertainty of required construction and repair, all students of R. Ross Beattie will be accommodated at Timmins High & Vocational School beginning Thursday May 26, 2016.

A great deal of planning has occurred already to accommodate students of R. Ross Beattie in a separate wing and floor of the TH&VS facility, as well as a dedicated entrance and lunch area. Students will continue to enjoy specialty classes such as Food and Nutrition, Woodworking, Physical Education, Computer Technologies, and Music.

In order to prepare for these changes, the follow changes in student timetables will occur:

  • May 24, 25 – classes and school cancelled for students of R. Ross Beattie
  • May 24, 25 – shortened day schedule (a.m. classes only) for students of TH&VS
  • May 26 – both TH&VS and Beattie students attend full day of classes at TH&VS facility;

There are no changes to transportation as students will continue to take their regularly assigned bus with the same pick and drop-off times.

Parent information session will be held at TH&VS on Tuesday May 24 at 6:30 p.m.
