dubeau wholeRick Dubeau isn’t happy with the process of a major project proposal.

This, on a proposal to relocate the Whitney Fire Hall to a multi-use building on the Northern College property.

The city councillor, who himself was a volunteer firefighter says it’s a matter of respect, and isn’t happy with the way it’s been handled.

“Council found out about it on the street. Council shouldn’t find out about these matters on the street,” he says.

“The volunteers were approached to see if they were receptive to this. I would suggest that council should’ve been approached first to whether or not we were receptive to this.”

Dubeau says council as a whole gives direction, and feels a stage was skipped in the process.

In regards to the suggestion, Dubeau says having two fire halls within 2 kilometres of each other prove to be redundant, and urges staff to look at it more.

When the discussion was over, council voted to have staff further consider the option.
