2015 saw a massive amount of drugs taken off city streets.

The Timmins Police’s annual report shows $709,247 worth of drugs had been seized. Methamphetamine tablets made up a large portion of the haul, over 24,000 tablets were confiscated with a street value of $249,430.

In the report, Sgt, Shannon Del Guidice from the Drug Enforcement Unit said there were a number a large seizures in 2015.

“In 2015, investigators targeted repeat offenders those involved in organized crime groups, and drug suppliers. Those investigations are generally lengthier and more complex, but the larger seizures and other evidentiary details provide for longer sentences, larger seizures, and greater community impact.”

143 potentially lethal Fenatnyl patches were also seized and valued at $71,000, $111,440 worth of cocaine, and $166,737 in marijuana rounded out the top four highest valued drugs seized by police.

The TPS also clasped over $80,000 in cash, and nearly $40,000 in property.
