Details are coming to light on the cost to put street lamps between Timmins and South Porcupine.

Early estimates are hovering around $675-thousand dollars, but Director of Public Works Luc Duval says depending on further studies to prepare for this year’s Connecting Link construction, the price tag could top $1 million.

Many councillors are on board with the project, citing safety concerns for people driving the stretch as well as pedestrians.

City staff will prepare reports with and without the lights, and council will go from there to make a decision.
