Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced an investment of $300,000 in support of community economic development and job creation.

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls has received $300,000 to hire an economic development officer (EDO) for a three-year period. With the help of the EDO, the town is in a position to implement its economic development priorities identified in the town’s recently adopted strategic plan.

The funding announced today is provided through the Community Investment Initiative for Northern Ontario (CIINO), a component of FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program.

CIINO enables recipient communities and First Nations to increase the number of community and/or regional economic development initiatives implemented leading to increased business investment; job creation, and increased regional collaboration and partnerships among communities.
