Long time Lego fan, Thomas Poulsom was working as an arborist or “Tree Surgeon” when one day when a  robin landed on his tool and  suddenly was inspired to build bird models out of the classic children’s toy. He started with the birds he saw while he was working, kingfisher, a blue tit, a woodpecker, a magpie, a barn owl and a goldfinch and he had so much fun at he kept going.

When his to-be wife Diana saw the models online, she knew it was love as she was already constructing paper models of birds worth £1’000 a piece and selling them online.  I was love at first sculpture!  Now they are living happily ever after…at least until they step on a lego block.

He started a support campaign and then after about 100 models, he started posting the birds online and they went viral catching the attention of the Lego company and landing him £20’000 in royalties. and they sell in the UK for £39.99 a piece.
