Residents may have taken notice of the water coming up through the road at the corner of Shirley and Chenier, at the entrance to the mall, attributed to a leaky valve.

The Public Works department wishes to confirm that the water line is not broken and this leak is not causing any additional damages. The valve is scheduled for repairs next week due to other priorities.

The City’s contractor first needs to complete the paving of two areas currently prepared to receive asphalt, which is scheduled for this week.

Pipes and valves in the Shirley Street area were installed circa 1960, and over the past three weeks, Public Works has been busy with the replacement of three 12-inch main line water valves in this area alone.
