$4.4-million dollars is being doled out to get seven years worth of designs for the Connecting Link.

There were some concerns on committing to one source over a number of years instead of year by year, but Director of Public Works Luc Duval says council directed him to do it this way through the conceptual and preliminary designs.

Duval says there’s an added bonus of possibly getting consideration for a multi-year funding agreement.

The designs will be done by AECOM, and cover Algonquin from the Mattagami Bridge to Father Costello Drive.
