The Timmins Police Service is in the midst of investigating a collision involving a pedestrian.

On Saturday, April 8th, at approx. 1:35 pm. a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Mountjoy Street and Algonquin Blvd in Timmins.

The driver of a 2009 Ford passenger vehicle was attempting to complete a left turn onto Algonquin Blvd. from Mountjoy St. N when she struck a 40 year old female pedestrian who had the right of way.

The pedestrian was taken to the Timmins and District Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, a 78 year old female resident of Timmins, was charged with Fail to Yield to Pedestrian contrary to section 144(7) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The Timmins Police Service – Traffic Section reminds all motorists to be mindful and aware of their responsibilities in regards to pedestrians, in particular at high pedestrian volume intersections in Timmins.
