We at Rogers Radio are getting some new neighbours, and it’s a centre geared towards helping adults with disabilities.

The Adult Enrichment Centre (AEC) is set to open in Timmins January 2nd.

Operations Director Joanne Bouchard says the AEC offers individualized programs to help adults with both physical and developmental disabilities achieve their goals.

She says some have been out of school for 10 years and are doing the same things they were doing back then.

“Young adults with developmental disabilities have so many strengths and goals and a purpose in life like you and I,” she says, adding the individual programs allow adults to grow independently “in their home setting or within their community.”

Currently, there are AEC offices in Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie. An office office is opening in North Bay December 4th.

To learn more, an open house will be held December 15-17 from 11am to 7pm at their future home of 258 Second Avenue.
