Sacred Heart School in Timmins received the highest rating among local schools in the latest Fraser Institute rankings of elementary schools in Ontario.

They ranked 224th out of just over 3,000 schools in the province with an 8.2 rating.

The ratings are “based on nine academic indicators from results of annual province-wide reading, writing and math tests.”

Other local schools in the city didn’t fare as well, however.

Timmins Centennial was the next highest rated local school, but came in with a 5.6 rating, good for 1,887th.

Here’s how the other schools in Timmins and Porcupine did:

  • Don Bosco: 5.4 (2,015th)
  • St. Jude: 4.7 (2,389th)
  • Pinecrest: 3.2 (2,843rd)
  • W.E. Miller: 3.2 (2,843rd)
  • Lionel Gauthier: 2.3 (2,962nd)
  • St. Gerard: 2.0 (2,989th)
  • St. Paul: 1.4 (3,023rd)
