**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**


In order to allow for a safe celebration and flag raise for Le Jour des Franco-Ontariens et Franco-Ontariennes, the Timmins Police Service is issuing a safety advisory notice to all local motorists.

To accommodate the expected influx of students from various area schools, Algonquin Blvd. will be closed to local traffic between Pine St. and Balsam St. on Tuesday, September 25 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.

“The purpose of the road closure is to facilitate members of the community and a large number of local primary and high school students to attend at City Hall for a special ceremony honouring the francophone community,” said Traffic Sergeant Tom Chypyha. “The Traffic Section at the Timmins Police Service appreciates the anticipated cooperation of local motorists in regards to this traffic closure.”

Detours:
– West-bound commercial motor vehicle traffic will be expected to take Hwy 655 to Laforest Road and follow the Detour D2 signs south on McLean Drive that are already in place for construction on the Kraft Creek Bridge
– East-bound commercial motor vehicle traffic will be expected to exit Algonquin Blvd, onto Theriault Blvd. and follow the Detour D2 signs that are already in place for construction on the Kraft Creek Bridge
– Passenger vehicle traffic will be required to take suitable routes to avoid the affected areas outlined above
