**TIMMINS FLOOD ADVISORY COMMITTEE NEWS RELEASE**

The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee is issuing a Flood Warning for the Mattagami River watershed, specifically the Mattagami River. A Flood Warning message serves as notification to the general public that localized flooding may occur.

The Committee reports that water levels on rivers and streams throughout the watershed continue to rise steadily in response to the recent rain. The exact extent of the flooding is difficult to predict at this time and will depend on the weather in the coming days. Over the next 24 hours low lying areas may experience nuisance flooding. No residences are expected to be impacted at this point in time. Everyone living in or near a flood hazard area is encouraged to monitor the conditions that are developing and to take the appropriate actions to protect their property.

The Committee will continue to meet on a continuous basis over the next several days and provide regular updates. The general public is advised of these messages through the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority website (http://mrca.timmins.ca) with the flood status icon and a link to information about current conditions.
