**SOUTH PORCUPINE FOOD BANK NEWS RELEASE**


The South Porcupine Food Bank Inc. (SPFB) thanks ALL our supporters!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated in November 2018 a total of an estimated 2,820 lbs of food and $21,425 including:

-Goldcorp Porcupine Gold Mines provided a huge $10,000 donation!
– Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board provided a very generous $4,000 grant, plus $1,000 towards hygiene items;
– Giving Tuesday “Fill The Van” event yielded 800 lbs. of food & $810!
– Individuals gave an additional $1,614;
– Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #287 South Porcupine provided $1,000;
– Giant Tiger provided $916 in gift cards;
– Porcupine United Church gave $682 from proceeds of the Community Harvest Dinner, and Porcupine United Church Women’s Group gave $100;
– Santa Claus Parade crowd provided 700 lbs. of food & $655;
– Hydro One Employees’ & Pensioners’ Charity Trust Fund gave $454;
– Covenant United Church donated $100;
– Food bank clients donated $66;
– Pampered Chef gave $28;
– Porcupine United Church, Covenant United Church and St. Joachim’s Catholic Church provided in total 210 lbs. of food;
– The Good Samaritan Inn provided 150 lbs. of food;
– Individuals provided 60 lbs of food;
– Food Basics and Porcupine Mall Food Bins provided 900 lbs of food.

The South Porcupine Food Bank board of directors humbly thanks the generous public in donating an estimated 600 lbs and $249 during the “Family Fun Day” held December 1, 2018.
 
SPFB has been serving those in need in Timmins & Area since 1987, is operated by 30 volunteers, with monthly operating costs averaging $5,550 in 2018. In Sept-Oct-Nov we served monthly 296 people (188 adults & 108 children).
