**KAPUSKASING OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On December 6, 2018, at approximately 2:15 a.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), as well as Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a motor vehicle collision on McPherson Avenue in Kapuskasing, Ontario.

 

Police investigation revealed that an intoxicated female had stolen property from a residence and while fleeing, had injured a pedestrian, then left the scene.

 

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital via ambulance and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Police located the driver and the motor vehicle on Clear Lake Road North in Kapuskasing, Ontario.

 

Marie-Josee CLOUTIER, 32-years-old, of Ottawa, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Care or Control While Impaired – Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC),
  • Care or Control Over 80 milligrams contrary to section 253(1)(b) CC,
  • Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm contrary to section 249(3) CC,
  • Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Involving Bodily Harm contrary to section 252(1.2) CC, and
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) CC.

 

She was served with a 90 day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

 

She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing, Ontario, on January 21, 2019.

 

The OPP reminds the motoring public to drive responsibly during this festive season.

 

Police are also asking the public to call the authorities if they see someone getting behind the wheel after having consumed intoxicating substances.
