**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**

The Timmins Police Service is in receipt of a number of complaints regarding snowmobilers failing to comply with intersection related traffic lights within the city of Timmins where they intersect with the OFSC trail system.

The affected area is where operators of motorized snow vehicles are crossing Airport Road near the intersection of Lafleur Drive.

Apparently the machines are crossing at the intersection against the corresponding red traffic signal lights.

The OFSC trail intersects with Airport Road in such a manner that operators are compelled and required to obey the signal lights in use at this intersection.

The Timmins Police Service is issuing a public safety reminder to all area snowmobilers to heed the warning and address their conduct accordingly.

Offences will be addressed by means of the issuance of Offence Notices that carry significant fines.

The burden of being a responsible snowmobile operator lies directly on the shoulders of the individual rider to comply with the traffic laws that are in place to enhance their safety.
