**JAMES BAY OPP NEWS RELEASE**


Between December 25, 2018 and February 2, 2019, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to five incidents where motor vehicles were stolen and five incidents where items were stolen from motor vehicles. The incidents occurred throughout the Town of Kapuskasing, Ontario.

 

All of the motor vehicles have been recovered and police have arrested one male in relation to two of the thefts.

 

Denis MIGNEAULT, 44-years-old, of Kapuskasing, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Two counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to section 333.1 of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC),
  • Theft Under $5000 From a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 334(b) CC,
  • Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property contrary to section 430(1)(a) CC, and
  • Use of Credit Card contrary to section 342(1)(c) CC.

 

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing, Ontario, on March 11, 2019, to answer to the charges.

 

Motorists are reminded to remove their keys and all valuables from their vehicle and to lock the doors when exiting.
