**TIMMINS SOUCIE SALO SAFETY NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Soucie Salo Safety Peewee team went undefeated to capture gold medals at the Conniston, Ontario hockey tournament this past weekend on February 1-3.

It was an amazing weekend of hockey filled with incredible teamwork, sportsmanship and tough competition.

The tournament started Friday with an 8-5 win over Temiskaming Shores MikMak, Saturday with two wins against the Rayside Icecats (6-2) and Little Current Flyers (8-3). Advancing to the semi’s on Sunday morning, Timmins Soucie Salo Safety beat the Kirkland Lake Alamas Gold Blue Devils 8-4 to advance to the finals against the Lidi Rouyn Noranda.

During the final game, Timmins Soucie Salo Safety gave it their all and pulled off a dominant victory to capture the gold with a 13-3 win.

The coaching staff is proud of their team; they played all five games confidently and with much tenacity, and played together as a team.

The team wishes to acknowledge Bruce Nichols, assistant coach and Evan Nichols, goaltender who could not be with us during this tournament weekend however kept the team motivated with inspirational speeches and anecdotes throughout the weekend.
