**JAMES BAY OPP NEWS RELEASE**


During the morning of March 17, 2019, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Front Street in the Town of Hearst, Ontario.

 

A female and a male were arrested and police seized suspected Methamphetamine and Oxycodone with a combined estimated street value of $500.

 

Kupricia STARR, 27-years-old, of Hearst, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) CDSA,
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Oxycodone contrary to section 4(1) CDSA, and
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing contrary to section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).

 

 

Luke GILLIS, 39-years-old, of Hearst, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Trafficking in a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(1) CDSA,
  • Trafficking in a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine contrary to section 5(1) CDSA,
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) CDSA,
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Oxycodone contrary to section 4(1) CDSA, and
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing contrary to section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).

 

 

Both accused persons are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst, Ontario, on April 24, 2019, to answer to the charges.
